Concrete, Timber or PARS Modular?

Concrete Timber PARS Modular Benefits of PARS Modular
Contract Requires builder and other trades. Requires carpenter and possibly ground worker. No other trades required. PARS Ramps are factory engineered to fit application and installed by PARS fitters. Simplified contract procedure - no subcontractors to worry about.
Preparation Extensive groundworks, foundation work, possible elevation of manhole covers and other obstructions. Permanent changes to parts of property structure i.e. existing steps concreted over. Possible foundations to support the ramp. In most cases no groundwork is necessary. A PARS ramp is supported on 300mm square slabs. PARS fitters can carry out levelling of ground if necessary (usually in one day). Less disruption and mess for the occupier. Manhole covers can be left in position and accessed easily by removable floor panels.
Recyclable No! in fact considerable extra cost would be incurred in the event the ramp is no longer required, in addition there would be the cost of re-instating the property. Not really. Timber ramps are not usually constructed with removal and reuse in mind. Because of their modular design PARS ramps are recyclable and can be quickly removed by PARS at low cost. The ramp can then be installed elsewhere or stored by us until required. Avoids wastage of resources giving better value for money invested. If the ramp needs to be removed there is little or no reinstating of the property required.
Safety Concrete surfaces accumulate ice and snow creating a safety hazard. Concrete is not good for natural drainage of surface water. Usually concrete ramps and platforms are the same colour. Timber surfaces accumulate ice and snow creating a safety hazard. Timber surfaces can become slippery in wet conditions. Timber will rot and splinter. Usually timber ramps and platforms are the same colour. Ice and snow are less likely to accumulate on PARS unique marine mini-mesh grating. Melted snow and ice will drain through the mesh holes and onto the ground underneath. PARS ramps and platforms are contrasting colours as recommended by the regulations. Provides users with peace of mind knowing that their ramp is safer to use. Less risk of injury claim. No concrete pad so surface water can drain through the floor mesh and away naturally. Colour contrast between ramps and platforms aids partially sighted users.
Installation Time Usually 3 - 4 weeks from date of order. Most of this time spent on site. Usually 3 - 4 weeks from date of order. Most of this time spent on site. Usually 2-3 weeks to manufacture in our factory from date of order - quicker in an emergency. Plus one day on site to install. Shorter time on site because PARS ramps are manufactured in our factory.
Approvals Usually requires planning and building regulations No planning approval normally required. As a free standing item no planning and building regulations approval required. A PARS ramp complies with BS 8300 (approach to buildings) and Part M of Building Regulations (access to buildings) Peace of mind that a product is manufactured and installed to meet approved standards.
